Frog Music by Emma Donoghue seems to be all the rage on both sides of the Atlantic. I haven’t read it yet, but as always I do have an opinion on the cover art. The United States has come up with something very different than the UK, but which do you like better?
If you are interested in hearing more about Frog Music, here are some reviews of it at:
I think the red one reflects the book’s personality better, but still I prefer the white one. White always wins in my opinion 🙂
I’m the opposite, red always wins in my opinion 🙂 -Tania
Oooh, it’s a tight race right now! I love the UK cover, but I don’t think it’s as applicable to the story, even though it’s beautifully designed.
This one really has me torn. At first i liked the red one, hands down. But now, i really like the detail of the frogs in the silhouette. Either way, I haven’t actually read the book, so maybe my opinion is meaningless.
I love both of the covers for this one. I voted for the red one because I think it is way more reflective of the story. And who doesn’t like a little can-can action on a cover?
I like the greens and yellows. And the frogs. But I haven’t read the book yet, either, so it’s hard to say.
I love the US cover. The frogs making up the face are a win for me, though I do appreciate the legs on the UK cover. Thanks for linking to my review!
I love the US cover – I vote for that one. That being said, did you notice how on the UK/Canadian cover the black circles are actually holes? I thought that was really well done. Also, I learned from Emma Donoghue’s Twitter that the legs featured on that cover are actually hers! Kind of cool.
Ok, that the legs are actually hers makes the red cover the winner, no contest!
Pretty crazy, eh! Haha.
Hate to say this but I’m actually going to have to side with the US (this is a rare moment).
Interesting. Is it out in Australia yet? And what’s the cover like?
It is out, haven’t read it yet. Australian covers are normally the same as the UK cover.
Both covers are awesome but I prefer the UK version more.
I didn’t even NOTICE the frogs on the US version. If I’d seen more of the UK cover, I might have already read this book…that white cover is stopping me… I just really dislike it for some reason.
The results are 50/50 right now. Interesting! I’ve seen the US cover a million times more but that UK cover is pretty awesome!
The US was the first one I saw and I really liked it. The Canadian one is ok, it will grow on me now that I have the book to read.
It’s the White Cover for me purely to satisfy my OCD tendencies – I like the neater typeface and I like my titles and author names in straight lines!! All of which make me sound like a right eejit I know!

I vote for #2, hands down.
I think they’re both pretty great, but I have yet to see either one in a final hardcover version (I heard the bullet holes go through to the book in the UK version, which I think is awesome!)
Thanks for sharing my review!
