You had to know this was coming. An Untamed State by Roxane Gay (review) has just been released in the UK, with a cover that is very different from the American one. I’m in no position to judge it objectively. The American cover has become burned on my brain. But what do you think?

I’m not even sure I can vote on this one! I don’t think either one quite captures the novel the way I wish it did.
Just from seeing it around and hearing about it, the first one strikes me more. I haven’t read it yet, though.
I gotta go with US. It just feels much more dynamic.
I have to go with the US cover. The UK one just looks too… gentle? It’s like “Oh how lovely, a birdcage.” I don’t love the US cover, but I think it hints a little better at the tone of the book.
I felt that way at first, but i must say the uk cover is growing on me. It is very solitary feeling and hints at captivity. The US one made me think more of a chase.
The UK edition looks exactly like the cover of Out of the Easy by Ruta Septys, so I definitely have to say the US one, even though I haven’t read this yet.

I thought exactly the same about the first time I saw the UK cover! I think the cover on Sepetys’ book is brighter, but the imagery is the same.
This is one of those rare cases when I don’t think either one does the book justice.
I can see your point. In the beginning the US cover did nothing for me, but then i grew used to it. But now the longer i look at the uk cover, the more i like it.
I love the American cover! The colors are great!
