Part of the reason I like doing Cover Wars is because it may bring forgotten gems back to your attention. Like The Mountain Story by Lori Lansens (review). Great book of summer that you just might want to pick up. Oh, but so many covers to choose from!
Which one these scratched your itch?
The water bottle image conveys the idea of a battle for survival. By the side of it the other jackets just look generic and unappealing.
Definitely. And having read the book, the yellow water bottle connects with the story really well.
Being in Canada it is the water bottle cover I associate with this book. The one with the bird is okay but the other two are underwhelming to say the least!
We have the water bottle one (haven’t read it yet, but Jackie read it and loved it). The UK one looks like an old cheesy pocket paperback from the 70s! I’m not keen on the American one too much. Truth be told, I’m not keen on any of them, but if I had to choose, it would be the Canadian one. 🙂
I actually really like the Canadian cover and picked it up because of the cover. And it is a great book. Go read it.
(and I love that you do Cover Wars. It’s so much fun to look at and judge!)
Something about the first cover — captures the situation the best. Canada go!
I think I learn from this that the UK may have an acute shortage of book cover designers!
I’m not sure if it’s because I read the Canadian edition, but I think I like the yellow canteen cover the best! As Susan mentioned, the others just seem to fall flat compared to it. (BTW – how perfect is the title? I kept on thinking how great of a storyteller Lansens is!)
