April felt like another busy month in the book0sphere, but now as I take an inventory of what I read, I realize it may not have been too productive. As always, links go through to my reviews.
- The Other Side of Paradise by Julia Cooke
- Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead
- The Intern’s Handbook by Shane Kuhn
- Half Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan
- Lovers at the Chameleon Club, Paris 1932 by Francine Prose
- The Marrying of Chani Kaufman by Eve Harris
- Flying Shoes by Lisa Howorth
- The Setting Sun by Bart Moore-Gilbert
- The Explorers by Martin Dugard
- How To Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia by Mohsin Hamid
Of these my favorites without a doubt were The Other Side of Paradise and The Marrying of Chani Kaufman. I highly recommend both of those.

You had a great reading month! Are you plan on reviewing Flying Shoes?
Great wrap! My April was definitely more productive than May, but I’m still hoping to blow my totals out of the water as we’re headed into summer. I’m off to refresh my memory on your Hope Street review since I’m reading it now.
What did you think of Half Blood Blues? That’s a pretty productive reading month I would say!
I didn’t like Half Blood. I really wanted to, but I was rather disappointed. I just couldn’t get into it. My review will be up in May sometime.
I felt the EXACT SAME WAY. CanLit man.
Thank you for the round up as I somehow missed your review of The Marrying of Chani Kaufman and it sounds like a book I’d love! -Tania
I loved it and and suggesting it to everyone.
How can April be over already?? You had a fantastic month. I made it through 4 books (I’m lying because 2 of them I haven’t finished but hope to by end of day.) Here’s to a marvelous May!
How did you find Half Blood Blues? I went into it expecting yet another WW2 story, but actually found it really refreshing.
I’m glad you liked it. To be frank, I was rather disappointed. I knew it wasn’t going to be a typical WWII story, but I expected more from it.
Great reading month! I’ll have to check out The Other Side of Paradise, we were married in Cuba and it was an amazing experience.
It looks like a productive month to me! I’m excited to read some of the reviews you have coming up for those books at the end of the month.
Seriously? 10 books read is nothing to sneeze at. I’m impressed!
I think you had a great reading month! The books you finished sound great too. I’m hoping to read Astonish Me at some point.
What a great month! There are some great titles in there. I read Hope Street a while ago and am so glad that it’s getting so much love lately.
